I started playing padel for fun.
I think the first approach to this sport was like that for everyone.
A friend of mine, tennis player Gianluca Beghi, called me to play a game among friends in a club in Milan, just to stay fit, he said, but with lightheartedness, only it was not really so, or, at least, in part it was, it was all immediate and fun, but it became clear to me that there was more.
That tricky immediacy, that fun to be earned, gave unparalleled satisfaction and adrenaline and I clearly couldn’t do without it.
From that exact day, from that first time, from that lightning love, my friends and I decided to get the padel membership card in order to maybe, who knows, why not, join some tournament, but always for fun and adrenaline and training.
Yes, because I noticed that to get things done you needed precision, and the bang of satisfaction you got was after careful attention to the fast trajectory of the strokes. I don’t know how, it became a physically zen activity: in the immediate strength and control of it all.
And so, with these premises, just a few weeks later we made our debut in a tournament in Riccione, as if nothing had happened, with all the desire simply to participate and question ourselves on something that attracted us.
And… we went out in the quarter-finals through the first seed of the tournament: two guys from Rome among the strongest in Italy!
From that day on, from that very day, my life changed. And I decided it. And I decided to start dedicating myself to padel and training and training all the time.
Within the year I managed to finish at the top of the Italian rankings winning the first two Italian titles and the first call-up to the 2017 European Championships with the Italian National Team. This was because of determination and adrenaline.
Undeniably it was a year to frame for the results achieved in such a short time and it was a turning point for my working life: from those first results began my professional life in the world of padel.
And within a short time, in fact, I also had beautiful memories still alive, including the unforgettable victory with Italy at the European Championships in Rome 2019 and certainly the last title of Italian champion in pair with Marcelo Capitani in 2021. Certainly recent, but even today, as I tell you, I relive it vividly as an incredible and eternal emotion, also because reconfirming is never easy for the pressures that you have to manage in the world of sport.
Padel is life, passion, work, fun, dedication, sacrifice! A remarkable personal human turning point that keeps you constantly alive: this is what padel is all about.
As for future goals, I can tell you that I will obviously devote myself more and more to international padel and, therefore, reach the top 20 players in the world and reach the Olympics.
Determination, adrenaline, professionalism in the field: all this is deep study of oneself and continuous rebirth. It is the elegance of being there.
